The Nextdoor app is a great resource for homeowners. You can be kept aware of specific neighborhood news such as lost pets, garage sales, criminal activity, fun festivities and other local happenings. This can be especially beneficial to vacation or second home owners. You can keep tabs on anything important happening in your neighborhood…while you are away from your second home.
If you already have a Nextdoor account and want to add a second home, here are some tips.
First, Nextdoor doesn’t allow you to be a member of two Nextdoor neighborhoods under the same email address, so you’ll need to join with an alternate email address when creating the second (or additional) account.
To create a second account on a web browser:
1. You’ll need to sign out of your current account.
2. Then go to nextdoor.com and enter the requested information.
When moving between accounts, you’ll need to sign into the account you want to access — which may require logging out of your other account. There is a workaround to this – if you use two different browsers, or use a web browser for one address and the mobile app for the other, then you’ll be able to leave both accounts open and simply switch between browsers, or between your web browser and the app.
If you get an error message when you enter the address of your vacation home, it may be that they don’t yet have the address in their mapping database. If that happens, then you can contact Nextdoor directly to get it added to their system.
We hope you find this information helpful. One of the first ways you may want to use Nextdoor is to locate or discard of moving boxes. Simply post on Nextdoor that you are looking for boxes or have free boxes for people to pick-up. It’s a great way to recycle and get the task of boxes handled!
