Ever since my visit to Miraval, I’ve been wanting to write about and share my experience with you. I’ve struggled to find the words to really accurately describe my three days and I think I realize that it’s difficult because it’s hard to capture the feelings in mere words. A few words that help to frame the feelings…epic, magical, healing, spiritual, relaxing, rejuvenating, thought-provoking, creative, mindful, sensory, fun and restful….but these don’t fully capture the essence of the experience.
Taking a few days off of work to focus on self care was a bit of a daunting task. Miraval is known as a place to unplug and unplugging is not something I do. As a matter of fact, I’ve never truly unplugged since becoming a Realtor in 2006. My phone is always on me and I am always connected. This was the first time I had auto reply/forwarding on my phone, email and texts. I still checked in a few times per day, but I wasn’t connected 24/7 for the first time in over 13 years. That in and of itself was extremely healthy for me and I didn’t really realize how much I needed to allow my mind to rest and relax. I was able to gain focus and I felt my creative juices start to really flow. It was the first time, in a long time, that I took to the time to just really think and ponder. I thought about things I want to improve personally and for our business. Being able to think without interruption…the only word to really describe that for me is WOW!
Prior to my arrival at Miraval, I pictured myself that the trip would includeng fabulous massages, picturesque scenery, great food and fun reconnecting with my high school girlfriends. I enjoyed all that and so much more. My first experience was to paint a horse and by paint a horse, I mean I painted on the body of a horse. The experience is called Unforgettable Canvas. The horse is your canvas and it was truly unforgettable. I started off painting hearts and ended up painting a desert sunset landscape. I felt so grounded and there is something about painting, let alone painting on the side of a living and breathing horse, that immediately starts the mind journey…you easily clear your head, breath and focus.
I then headed to the spa for an Epic 100 minute massage. I enjoyed the “Monsoon Experience.” It’s a combination of massage with hot stones and a body mask. While being massaged you listen to the sounds of rain and thunder…just like an Arizona Monsoon. Over the course of three days I also enjoyed several specialty massages and Experiences. Qi Grounding was a favorite and I tried acupuncture for the first time. It pinched a bit, but so glad I went outside my comfort zone. I also enjoyed a Deep Desert Massage, Ayurvedic Treatment, Intuitive Massage and Himalayan Sound Bowls. The menu of services is robust and all of the items are called Experiences because they are so much more than a treatment or service…they are truly an Experience.
One of my favorite Experiences was the Chef’s Table. I met people from New York and Chicago and we became fast friends, along with the Amazing Chef. The 6 of us shared a magical evening of food, wine, friendship and laughter. It was amazing to meet total strangers and end the evening as friends. We are still in touch via Instagram and I hope to visit Miraval with them again. The Chef not only presented us with culinary delights, but he shared stories about himself that were so inspirational. He was a great example of how the staff at Miraval is unlike staff I’ve ever seen before. The staff members are all very giving of themselves and all an important part of the Experience. They are all mindful, giving and supportive of the guests in every way. Again, magical and special just crack the surface on describing the staff.
When I return to Miraval, I want to try a few new things. I can’t wait to do the Himalayan Sound Bath, Mother’s Blessings, Hammam and so much more! Their Experience Menu seems endless and is so unique. I can’t wait to return…I’ve already been planning it in my mind.
If you are looking to relax, unwind, rejuvinate and uplug, then Miraval is the place to go and experience all they have to offer. Immerse yourself in the wonder of it all.
For more information about Miraval visit –Miraval Website. They often have specials too. Keep in mind that their room rates typically include credits for Experiences. I had originally thought my stay would be more expensive by the time I paid for the room and the Experiences, but it’s much more cost effective than I had expected and if you can book a sale price, then even better!
