Talk about an ULTIMATE Bucket List Adventure in AZ!!! If you are looking for a truly unique dining experience, hotel experience or cavern hike…this is THE place! The Grand Canyon Caverns has been voted in the Top 10 of most Unusual Places To Sleep. The “hotel room” sleeps up to 6 and is the Oldest, Deepest, Darkest, Largest, Quietest hotel room, plus it’s a BOMB Shelter!
The Cavern Grotto is an amazing dining experience. Open for Lunch and Dinner. You MUST make reservations in advance, as it only seats about 14 people total. It’s located 220 feet below the surface. You take an elevator down and then walk through the cave to an elevated platform. Your meals are brought up by a bucket/dumb waiter system and the food is truly fantastic…especially the Pie! The staff is also super friendly and they have great stories to share.
We went for a late lunch and then took a tour. People were staying in the “hotel room” and we saw them watching a movie and hanging out. The tour was great and you can also take a ghost tour at night…they have locations in the cave and above the cave that have ghostly activity.
The Cavern is located off Route 66 near Seligman, AZ. We spent the night in Williams, AZ, after our late lunch. If you’re going to stay in Williams, AZ, we recommend the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, La Quinta or Grand Canyon Railway Hotel.
Please note…it is not very close to the Grand Canyon. We had planned on going to the Cavern and then visiting the Canyon, but it’s a few hours away, so you may want to plan accordingly.
