Hiking is a popular activity in Arizona. There are so many great trails to enjoy and the views are spectacular. Always take water with you and a good tip…when you’ve consumed half of your water, turn around and head back. Hiking is not only great exercise, but just a great way to get outside and enjoy our beautiful landscape. Another tip…watch the trail ahead of you and be on the lookout for snakes…especially in the spring when they start to be more active.
One of our favorite trails is Pinnacle Peak. Again, the views are spectaclar and it’s not too tough of a climb. You can do the entire hike up and back in about an hour…give or take depending on your hiking ability. It’s a hike even the kiddos can enjoy, although they may not go the entire distance to the end of the trail, they can certainly make it to the top spot.
An easier hike is off of the Sonoran Parkway, just west of Cave Creek Road. The Apache Wash Trailhead is a beginner level hike and can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Some other favorites include Phoenix Mountain Preserve, Gateway and Tom’s Thumb. For more hiking information, visit the City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation website here – Parks & Rec Website or the City of Scottsdale’s site – Scottsdale Trailheads.
